Susan Hockaday, “River Shadows”

Susan Hockaday, "River Shadows" sculpture

The library’s Art Committee had selected this piece while Nancy Ukai Russell held its Chair. Associated with this dedication is also the Carol Schepps Fiber Quilt, which had been installed above the second floor fireplace and dedicated in honor of Nancy’s tenure as Chair, which came to an end when she relocated from Princeton. The quilt was removed from display for safekeeping during the renovation of the second floor in 2017.

According to the artist, her creative response to natural phenomena arises from her family origins and time spent in the countryside of Missouri and rural Nova Scotia.
