Artist Ik-Joong Kang of New York, NY created “Happy World,” a mixed media wall installation for the lobby. Featuring 3,700 individual 3-inch by 3-inch tiles with paintings and carvings by the artist interspersed among artifacts and words contributed by the community in advance of the library's opening in 2004, “Happy World” mural has become the signature piece of artwork for the library. A separate label next to the installation reads as follows: Thank you to the hundreds of Princeton collaborators who contributed personal and historical material to this wall.
